Amelia Island
Amelia Island Plantation: Property officials announced earlier this year that the plantation is completing guest room upgrades at the 249-room Amelia Inn and Beach Club. Enhancements include flat-screen TVs and new contemporary colors and design. In total, the resort has 610 guest rooms and more than 49,000 square feet of function space.
The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island: Property officials announced in January that the hotel has completed a series of enhancements, opening the $16.4 million Spa at Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island in December 2006 and a new restaurant, Salt, in September 2006.
Bal Harbour
Regent Bal Harbour: The 17-story, 124-room resort is scheduled to open Jan. 2, 2008, with a 750-foot beach, an infinity-edged pool, poolside cabanas, a fully equipped fitness center, and 3,700 square feet of meeting and banquet space for up to 110.

Captiva Island
South Seas Island Resort: Having completed a $140 million renovation and expansion effort post-Hurricane Charley in 2004, the resort now features 465 guest rooms, a newly designed golf club with nine holes of oceanfront golf, expanded beaches and the Yacht Harbour marina.
Coral Gables
The Westin Colonnade - Coral Gables: 154-room Westin, formerly an Omni, opened in January following a complete $10 million renovation. Meeting space includes the historic 6,000-square-foot Rotunda.
Daytona Beach
Daytona Beach Resort & Conference Center: The complex recently completed a renovation to bring the hotel to 315 guest rooms. The resort now offers more than 17,000 square feet of meeting space.

Set for a 2008 completion, the expansion will add 100,000 square feet of exhibit space and 30,000 square feet of new meeting space, nearly tripling the size of the facility.
Plaza Resort & Spa: In 2006, the resort completed a $60 million renovation that resulted in its transformation into a 323-room condo/hotel. Guest rooms include new furniture, 42-inch plasma TVs and high-speed Internet access.
Wyndham Ocean Walk Resort: New at the Wyndham property is the Vacation Therapy Spa, which opened in 2006. The resort offers a 5,000-square-foot Grand Ballroom and an additional 1,000 square feet of flexible meeting space.

Hawk’s Cay Resort: A $30 million renovation to enhance the resort’s amenities and guest experiences began this summer and is expected to be completed next year.
Key Largo
Marriott Key Largo Bay Beach Resort: New guest room décor, feather-top mattresses, flat-screen TVs, wireless Internet access and a new 5,000-square-foot conference center were part of a $6 million renovation to the 153-room and 24-suite property.
Ocean Reef Club: The 340-room hotel completed a $17 million renovation of all guest rooms that included new tropical décor, two flat-screen TVs, marble flooring, and a separate tub and shower for the newly enlarged bathrooms.
Key West
Beachside Resort & Conference Center: New resort overlooking the Gulf of Mexico at the entrance of the island of Key West. The four-story, 222-room resort offers a 6,000-square-foot conference and meeting center, a full spectrum of banquet facilities and services, a private beach and heated pool, and more.
Hyatt Key West Resort & Marina: May brought the completion of a $9 million renovation designed to bring a modern edge to the seaside resort. Renovations encompass both public and private spaces across all three buildings.
Westin Key West Resort & Marina: The resort’s transformation from a Hilton is expected to be complete in 2008, including the addition of 37 villas on a private island 500 yards from shore. The hotel offers 16,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor function space and a 36-slip marina.

FORT LAUDERDALE AREAGreater Fort Lauderdale CVB: WCI Communities introduced plans for an ultra-luxury, oceanfront condo hotel at the OceanSide project on Atlantic Boulevard in Pompano Beach. Hotel construction is expected to begin in 2008 and end in 2011.

Fort Lauderdale Grande Hotel & Yacht Club: Embarked on a $60 million renovation project that includes a complete redesign of the hotel’s public spaces, including the lobby, all guest rooms and suites, and 20,000 square feet of existing meeting and event space.
Harbor Beach Marriott Resort & Spa: Resort was slated to complete a $25 million renovation of guest rooms and suites this year. The property was also planning an expansion of its 30,000 square feet of meeting space, including a ballroom overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort: Newly opened resort features 373 studios and suites, a 25,000-square-foot terrace with zero-entry pool and cabanas, a beach concierge, a European-style spa, children’s programs, three dining options, and 10,000 square feet of meeting space.
Hyatt Regency Bonaventure Conference Center & Spa: Recently completed a $100 million renovation that resulted in 501 refurbished, more modern guest rooms, four swimming pools, multiple dining options, and a state-of-the-art conference center spanning 100,000 square feet.
Hyatt Regency Pier 66 Resort & Spa: Underwent a $25 million renovation that included a complete redesign of the Deluxe Lanai and Tower guest rooms and suites with retro-modern appointments. The update also included the transformation of the pool and lanai courtyard with a three-pool waterfall oasis and eight additional deluxe cabanas. The Pier Top Lounge was converted into an ultra-modern special event space for small meetings.
Las Palmas Hotel & Suites: Formerly the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Sunrise, the 297-room property, which includes 90 suites and nearly 7,000 square feet of meeting space, underwent a $20 million renovation this year. Among its amenities, the hotel offers a professional soccer field.
Sheraton Suites Cypress Creek: The property is undergoing renovations of all 253 guest rooms and public spaces, with a completion date set for late November. The hotel’s meeting space was renovated in August 2006.
Sheraton Yankee Trader Hotel: Recently underwent renovations and announced plans for a new banquet and meetings pavilion designed to accommodate events.
St. Regis Resort Fort Lauderdale: Starwood opened the new $240 million resort in May on Fort Lauderdale Beach. The 24,000 square feet of meeting space includes an 8,500-square-foot grand ballroom.
Trump International Hotel & Tower Fort Lauderdale: Scheduled to open in 2008, this is one of Donald Trump’s two new Five-Star condo hotel developments planned for Fort Lauderdale Beach. The 24-story building, designed by architect Michael Graves, will feature 298 guest rooms.
W Fort Lauderdale Hotel & Residences: $205 million Starwood resort is slated to open early next year with 346 hotel rooms and 171 luxury residences located on a 4.5-acre site offering views of the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway. The property will offer more than 19,000 square feet of meeting space.
END: FORT LAUDERDALE AREA Fort Myers
Edison-Ford Winter Estates: The Caretaker’s House, the oldest building on the Edison Winter Estate and thought to be one of the oldest buildings in Fort Myers, opened at the Edison house. The Caretaker’s House can accommodate events for up to 250 attendees on the grounds.
Embassy Suites Fort Myers – Estero Opened its doors last fall with 4,500 square feet of meeting space, an outdoor pool, a spa, and complimentary wired and wireless Internet access in each guest suite.
Harborside Event Center Received approval earlier this year for a 25,000-square-foot addition. Currently, the event center provides 42,000 square feet of function space and can accommodate groups of up to 3,000, theater style, and 1,700 for banquets.
Fort Myers Beach
Pink Shell Beach Resort & Spa: Underwent a multi-phased, multimillion-dollar transformation that added 92 one- and two-bedroom, villa-styled accommodations and 2,500 square feet of meeting space.
Hollywood
Hollywood Office Of Tourism (H.O.T.): Ocean Properties Ltd. has announced plans to build the Marriott Ocean Village and Resort, a conference, retail and hotel complex, on six acres of Hollywood Beach oceanfront and the Intracoastal Waterway.
Crowne Plaza Hotel Hollywood Beach Sian Resort: Newly opened 311-room condo hotel offers seven meeting rooms totaling 8,730 square feet of meeting space. Its largest room can accommodate 266 attendees, theater style. Hotel overlooks the Intracoastal Waterway.
Jacksonville
Crowne Plaza Jacksonville Riverfront: MHI Hospitality spent $22 million to purchase the 292-room former Hilton and invested another $3 million in upgrades in 2006. The hotel features 12,000 square feet of event space.
Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront: The 966-room hotel completed a $15 million renovation in 2006, finalizing its transformation from an Adam’s Mark. Upgrades include all guest rooms, restaurants, the rooftop pool, the health club, the lobby and the exterior.
Sawgrass Marriott Resort & Spa: The 508-room resort has completed $16 million in guest room enhancements and $40 million in upgrades to The Players Stadium Golf Course and adjacent Dye’s Valley Course.
Lake Buena Vista
Regal Sun Resort: In September, the 626-room hotel was renamed the Regal Sun Resort following a $25 million property-wide renovation.
Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin Resort: Completed a $75 million redesign that upgraded guest rooms and added new lobbies, public spaces and boardroom hospitality suites.
Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Hotel & Spa at Bonnet Creek Resort: Construction has begun on the 400-room resort, with work expected to be fully completed by the first quarter of 2009.
Miami
Greater Miami CVB: Several new meeting hotels are on the horizon in the Greater Miami area, including a St. Regis Hotel in Bal Harbour, a Canyon Ranch and Spa in North Miami Beach, and a new Sonesta in Coconut Grove.
The Blue at Doral: Located alongside the 12th and 13th fairways of the legendary Blue Monster golf course, the new Blue at Doral is slated to open in December. The resort will offer 240 suites and 15,000 square feet of meeting space.
Doral Golf Resort & Spa, A Marriott Resort: Recently opened a 60,000-square-foot meeting room addition, including a 24,000-square-foot ballroom and 27,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space.
Embassy Suites/Miami International Airport: 316-suite property underwent a complete hard and soft good renovation of its suites. Meeting space was also renovated.
Hyatt Regency Miami: The 612-room property is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year with a $20 million renovation that will create the “newest” luxury guest rooms in the city. Renovations also include a new lobby and flat-screen TVs.
Marriott Lodging at Miami Airport: Recently purchased by Thayer Lodging Group, which plans to invest $65 million to renovate the hotels by early 2009 to coincide with the completion of a major airport expansion.
Mayfair Hotel & Spa: Underwent a $20 million hard goods renovation in 2006 and is completing a renovation that will include the addition of a rooftop pool and cabanas by January 2008.
Miami Beach
Eden Roc Renaissance Resort & Spa: Undergoing a $150 million transformation that began in 2006. When the hotel reopens in November, it will offer a new 11,500-square-foot ballroom featuring water views. Outdoor space is also being added.
Fontainebleau Miami Beach: A $1 billion renovation/expansion is under way that will be completed in 2008. The resort will offer 1,500 rooms and 150,000 square feet of meeting space able to accommodate up to 3,000 attendees for an event.
Naples
The Ritz-Carlton, Naples: In 2006, the 3,000-square-foot Ritz-Carlton, Naples Beach House opened as part of a $70 million enhancement project. The two-story, multi-use facility can accommodate 120 people, banquet style, or 150, reception style. The house also features a full-service kitchen.
Orlando
Orlando/Orange CVB, Inc.: Orlando developer David Townsend plans to start work in 2008 on a $520 million luxury high-rise hotel called Ravallo Resort and Conference Center. The 900-unit condo hotel will feature a rooftop pool, restaurants, retail, a spa, a fitness center, and 140,000 square feet of convention and meeting space. Plans are in the works for a new Wyndham resort called Vista Royale to open with 350 rooms in 2010. Amenities will include a full-service spa and 11,000 square feet of meeting space.
Cocoa Beach Hilton Oceanfront: A $22 million renovation completed in 2006 improving nearly all areas of the hotel, including the 296 guest rooms, which now feature Hilton’s luxury triple-sheet down bedding and “Serenity” amenity group.
The Florida Hotel & Conference Center: The hotel recently doubled its meeting space with a $23 million addition to bring the total to more than 40,000 square feet. All guest rooms and public spaces were renovated in 2006.
Hard Rock Hotel® at Universal Orlando® Resort: Now features 650 newly renovated rooms, a project that was completed in early 2007.
Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport: Located in the terminal of the Orlando International Airport, the 446-room hotel underwent a $10 million renovation that resulted in a new color palette, plush bedding and upgraded baths.
InterContinental Resort & Residences Orlando at Palazzo del Lago: The $800 million destination resort in Central Florida near Walt Disney World Resort will include the InterContinental Resort and Residences Orlando with a mix of 1,260 luxury hotel and hotel condominium units and more than 114,000 square feet of meeting space.
Orange County Convention Center: Hilton has broken ground on the first hotel that will actually be connected to the convention center. With 1,417 guest rooms, the Hilton Orlando will offer more than 130,000 square feet of meeting space. Opening is expected in August 2009.
Orlando Airport Marriott: Completed a $12.5 million property-wide renovation earlier this year. The 486 guest rooms now feature new plush bedding and sound-proofed windows. The 26,000 square feet of meeting space were also upgraded and expanded with a new ballroom that opens onto an outdoor patio.
Orlando World Center Marriott Resort & Convention Center: The resort is slated to open the 105,000-square-foot Cypress Ballroom this fall. The ballroom will connect to the existing Palms Ballroom to provide more than 160,000 square feet of contiguous, pillar-free, carpeted space for trade shows and special events.
The Peabody Orlando: Expansion plans are in the works that would add 750 more guest rooms and 153,000 square feet of meeting space. The hotel currently offers 891 guest rooms and 57,000 square feet of event space and is located across from the Orange County Convention Center.
Renaissance Orlando Resort at SeaWorld: A multimillion-dollar investment to the pool and recreation area is complete. A $20 million renovation of its 778 guest rooms, restaurants and ballrooms is under way.
The Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes: The hotel has more than 47,000 square feet of meeting space after completing a $13 million addition of a 13,485-square-foot ballroom, two pre-function spaces, two meeting rooms and a 3,000-square-foot patio.
Rosen Centre Hotel: Recently completed a multimillion-dollar renovation that spans the hotel’s 106,000 square feet of meeting space, including its 35,000-square-foot Grand Ballroom.
Rosen Shingle Creek & Shingle Creek Golf Club: Opened on a 230-acre site a mile from the Orange County Convention Center last September. The 1,500-room resort has more than 445,000 square feet of event space, an 18-hole golf course and a full-service spa.
Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Orlando®, A Loews Hotel: In September, property officials announced that guest rooms and suites are being renovated. The $8.5 million room renovation includes luxurious duvets, a bamboo ceiling border accent, and a metal, bamboo-patterned wall screen that visually separates the sleeping area from the bathroom. Sisal-styled carpeting is combined with rattan and cane features for the headboards, night tables, and dresser casework.
SeaWorld Adventure Park, Orlando: Opened three family rides, doubling the size of Shamu’s Happy Harbor. The new rides include Ocean Commotion, a swinging boat ride; Flying Fiddler, a crab ride that lifts children more than 20 feet in the air and begins jumping in a quick series of short drops; and Sea Carousel, a traditional carousel ride that includes a collection of 65 sea creatures.
Sheraton Orlando North: Reopened last year following completion of a multimillion-dollar renovation. The hotel now offers 15,000 square feet of function space and 394 guest rooms.
The Villas of Grand Cypress: In June, officials announced the completion of a $3 million renovation of all of the property’s 146 guest rooms. Additionally, by late September, officials said the 28,000-square-foot clubhouse would feature a new restaurant, an upgraded golf pro shop, a refurbished all-day restaurant and new appointments in the public spaces. Almost immediately after the clubhouse project wraps up, play will resume on the resort’s South Course following a $1.4 million, six-month restoration/enhancement project that began in April. The golf course work is being done in conjunction with Jack Nicklaus and Nicklaus Design.
The Waldorf-Astoria at Bonnet Creek: A Waldorf-Astoria broke ground in Orlando in April. The property is expected to be a 498-room hotel paired with a 1,000-room Hilton hotel, both of which are set to open in late 2009, and will include 125,000 square feet of meeting space.
Westin Imagine Orlando: New leisure and business hotel slated to open next spring. The hotel will be adjacent to the Orange County Convention Center and feature 315 guest rooms and 7,000 square feet of meeting space with on-site sales and conference services.
PALM BEACH COUNTYPalm Beach
The Breakers: Recently underwent a $15 million redevelopment to enhance its 560 guest rooms and 45,000 square feet of indoor meeting space.
Ocean Club Beach Resort: Formerly a Hilton, the hotel is undergoing a $15 million renovation that has shut down the resort until the first quarter of 2008.
The Ritz-Carlton, Palm Beach: Recently debuted a new 3,000-square-foot terrace as part of a $60 million renovation and expansion. The project also included a $100,000 renovation of each of the 309 guest rooms.
Palm Beach Gardens
PGA National Resort & Spa: Newly renovated resort boasts a self-contained conference facility with 34,000 square feet of meeting space, 23 meeting rooms, two ballrooms and five golf courses.
West Palm Beach
Palm Beach County Convention Center: City leaders recently approved the planned construction of a 400-room Westin Hotel that will be connected to the convention center by an enclosed walkway. The Westin is slated to break ground in 2008, with completion set for the first quarter of 2010.

Aqua Condominiums: Now offers newly designed, state-of-the-art meeting space suitable for executive conferences, incentive retreats and small meetings of groups of up to 50.
Bay Point Marriott Resort: This summer brought the completion of a three-year, $23 million renovation and resort development program that included a renovation of all 316 guest rooms and suites.
The Boardwalk Beach Resort & Condominiums: Completed a $4 million renovation of its guest rooms in March and added 233 luxury condos to its inventory in 2005. The condominiums offer a 5,000-square-foot meeting room and a boardroom.
Pensacola
Courtyard by Marriott Pensacola Downtown: 120-room hotel opened earlier this year with a meeting room capable of seating up to 75 attendees. A boardroom can accommodate 12.
Crowne Plaza Pensacola Grand Hotel: In 2006, the hotel completed a renovation and is re-opening to offer public spaces within the historic train depot and 212 guest rooms within the 14-story glass tower.
Cabana Club Waterfront Banquet Facility: A new waterfront banquet facility located directly on Pensacola Beach offering space for receptions, weddings, private parties and business meetings.
Pensacola Beach

Ponte Vedra Beach
Ponte Vedra Inn & Club: The 250-room inn added a new 28,000-square-foot Spa at Ponte Vedra in 2006 with 22 treatment rooms and a spacious Gathering Room that features an open kitchen for cooking demonstrations. A sister resort—the 66-room Ponte Vedra Lodge and Club with 13,000 square feet of event space—completed a Mediterranean-style makeover of its lobby and added a new gift shop in 2006.
River Ranch
Westgate River Ranch: Authentic dude ranch now offers a new lodge with 4,000 square feet of meeting space. Groups can enjoy a sanctioned rodeo every Saturday night, as well as horseback riding, guided nature hikes, fishing, trap and skeet, airboat rides, swamp buggy rides, hayrides and a petting zoo.
Sarasota
Hyatt Sarasota: New owners said they have plans to invest in a $10.5 million renovation of the property. The hotel overlooks Sarasota Bay and offers 20,000 square feet of meeting space.
Singer Island
The Resort at Singer Island: The Resort at Singer Island—part of the Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide Inc. Luxury Collection—opened in April with 239 two- and three-bedroom condominium hotel suites, 4,000 square feet of meeting space, a wedding gazebo, three restaurants and a coffee bar, an 8,500 square-foot wellness retreat and spa, a lap pool with private cabanas, and a lagoon-style family pool.
St. Augustine
St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra & The Beaches VCB: In downtown St. Augustine, the Sebastian Inland Harbor Resort, part of a mixed-use development, is set to open in 2008 with 8,000 square feet of meeting space.

Belleview Biltmore Resort, Golf Club & Spa: Restoration to the Beach Club will begin in 2008, with completion expected in 2009.
Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort: In the final stages of a $28 million renovation that includes all of its 416 guest rooms and 32,000 square feet of meeting and exhibition space. Resort officials said additions would include a 2,800-square-foot junior ballroom and a new restaurant and lounge.
Hilton St. Petersburg Bayfront: The hotel just completed a $10 million renovation of all guest rooms and 30,000 square feet of meeting space.
Renaissance Vinoy Resort: The historic Renaissance Vinoy completed a $5 million renovation in late 2006 that included a makeover of its Plaza Ballroom and two presidential suites and Marriott bedding upgrades to all guest rooms.
Sandpearl Resort: Resort opened this year with 253 guest rooms, 25,000 square feet of meeting space, a spa, a beach club and a fitness center. Managed by Coral Hospitality of Naples, the resort is the first beachfront property to be constructed in the area in 25 years, according to resort officials.
TradeWinds Island Grand: The resort recently added a 10,282-square-foot pavilion, bringing the total meeting space on the property to more than 68,000 square feet.
TradeWinds Sandpiper Hotel & Suites: The resort recently completed an $11 million renovation of all guest rooms and suites, and is now rated as a Three-Diamond resort. The resort is part of the TradeWinds Resort.

Embassy Suites Hotel Tampa - Downtown: Opened November 2006, the 360-room hotel connects via a skybridge to the Tampa Convention Center and offers 9,000 square feet of on-site meeting space.

InterContinental Tampa: Formerly a Wyndham, the 323-room hotel completed a $20 million renovation this summer and now offers a total of 21,000 square feet of meeting space.
Saddlebrook Resort – Tampa: A tournament-style tennis venue is planned for the resort, which recently completed an $8.5 million redecoration of all 800 guest rooms and suites. The resort has 34 meeting rooms for a total of 82,000 square feet of function space.
Sheraton Tampa Riverwalk Hotel: New owners will invest $6 million to upgrade the hotel and expand the meeting and function space by approximately 4,500 square feet.
Wyndham Westshore Tampa: Renovations were expected to be complete in September to the 322-room hotel, including the lobby, guest rooms, common areas and meeting space.
