Insider's Guide to New Orleans Meeting Sites

Big things are happening in New Orleans, a city that has more than come back from adversity, says Nikki Moon, vice president, sales, New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB). “After Katrina, we had to rebuild our lives; we had an opportunity to improve, and we took it. We have had a great year and we have a fantastic calendar of events coming up for 2012. Everyone is cranking to make sure their properties look as fresh as they can.”

Moon says that includes a lot of upgrades at hotels, including “the spectacular reopening of the Hyatt Regency, a $283 million project; $85 million in total renovations and upgrades at the Superdome (now the Mercedes-Benz Superdome); and $300 million in renovations and expansions at the airport.”

Jeremy Luski, director of event operations for UBM Global
Trade, says suppliers and vendors in the city offer a little extra with their Southern hospitality. “They are very accommodating and make you want to do business there.”
