With the capacity to accommodate groups as large as 2,800, Savannah is an ideal choice for everything from board of director’s meetings to a national association’s annual conference. The area has been hosting visitors for hundreds of years and offers a unique blend of elegance and charm with dozens of historic hotels, venues, attractions, tours, events and local hot spots to choose from. Savannah is currently home to more than 14,000 guest rooms in the metro area with 3,000 located in the historic district.
One group that enjoys holding meetings in Savannah and will return in late July for their four-day Summer Training Conference is the Georgia Association for Chiefs of Police (GACP). “Our association has been coming to the area for over 10 years. We have always enjoyed the city, the southern experience, and our great attendance when we meet there. The [CVB] has a professional staff that goes above and beyond in servicing our group and making our convention a success year after year,” said Training Director Paul Maharry. The GACP plans to book rooms at four area hotels, hold meetings and receptions at the Westin property and schedule various sightseeing events such as a riverboat cruise and trolley tour.
