Insider's Guide to Tampa

Everything in Tampa seems shiny and new! The city has seen a remarkable surge in the development of new attractions in the past three years and the construction and renovation projects haven’t ceased. Norwood Smith, vice president of sales for Tampa Bay & Company, touts Tampa Riverwalk, a 2.2-mile pedestrian walkway essentially completed but continually improved upon, Glazer’s Children’s Museum, Tampa Bay History Center and the Tampa Museum of Art/ Cornelia Corbett Center, all built within the past 30 months, as some of the city’s newest features.

The latter facility was a recipient of the prestigious American Architecture Award this year. It is the only building in Florida to win the award and only one of two in the entire Southeast.

Looking to the near-future, Smith enthused about the 2012 Republican National Convention, the Floridan Hotel, and CAMLS, among other things scheduled for the upcoming year.
